Uyirmai
is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated
to bringing positive change to
education, language and cultural heritage preservation, and linguistic diversity. With a name derived from the Tamil
language, Uyirmai encapsulates the vitality and force of life,
symbolizing our commitment to uplifting communities worldwide.
Our Mission:
We are committed to building a world where everyone,
regardless of their background, has equal access to the
essential elements that enrich life. This represents itself in
three ways:
Preserving Linguistic and Cultural Diversity
by celebrating differences and recording linguistic data.
Promoting Educational Equity by
providing children access to quality learning resources and
facilities at schools and institutions.
Advancing Language Technologies
by harnessing the power of innovation to break down language
barriers and foster communication and collaboration across
borders.
Why is this Important?
There are over 2000 endangered languages in the world, and
it’s important every single one and its rich cultural heritage
is preserved. Furthermore, many of these smaller languages are
found alongside low-resourced education.
By supporting these areas through our various initiatives, we address two problems at once: join us as we built a world that values, preserves, and celebrates the vitality of every individual and community.
